      The brief focused on comfortable modern living that could accommodate the needs of teenagers. The design responds to the constraints of the vacant site situated between developed properties with the focus at street frontage and to the rear of the site which opens out to high panoramic distant views over bushland reserve.

      This 2 storey modern design, comprising a light filled central entry and stairwell leading to an open plan living space, opens up to an entertaining deck area that takes full advantage of its northerly aspect and natural cross ventilation through the use of stacking sliding doors and louvered high light operable windows. The faηade combines face brick and blockwork and light weight cladding with a series of sloping roof planes.

      Attributable to a subdivision the newly created vacant block was set amongst rural bushland offering a distant panoramic vista. The design responded to the sloping site with a raised platform utilising the under storage as a workshop and parking for a caravan. The contemporary design was orientated to embrace the north – north easterly aspect as well as the magnificent views.

      Incorporating 3 bedrooms, main bedroom with ensuite & walk in robe, granite bench tops and polyurethane finish cabinetry to the 2 bathrooms and kitchen. The galley style kitchen also provides a walk in pantry and a panoramic window to capture the northerly sun. The open plan living opens via stacking sliding doors to a blackbutt hardwood deck set amongst the tree tops..

      The original single storey home no longer met the owner’s needs and from the first instance it was clear that extensive alterations and additions would be required to achieve the brief intent.

      The design retains the character of the beach side style bungalow with a first floor addition to capture distant ocean views. The existing ground floor plan was redesigned to provide open plan living and to accommodate the new open stair to the first floor level. The existing ground floor plate was also extended to accommodate additional bedrooms and walk in storage.

      Located at the rear of the site is the detached self contained studio come guest room with access from the main house via a split level deck that also leads to the pool and garden.

The extent of architectural documentation prepared included finalising the contemporary design that incorporates light weight cladding and multiple metal skillion roofs. The home wraps around a split level deck leading to a plunge pool.

      Located in a sea side community, this proposed 3 bedroom plus studio with secured double garage split level contemporary design responds to the natural slope of the land. Proposed materilas include exposed galvanised steel framing, sustainable external cladding sheets and energy efficient glazing set out over four platforms, the upper living areas enjoy distant bush and ocean views.

      The north-east orientaiton dictates the numerous skillion roof pitches maximising solar access and facilitating natural ventilation.The galley style kitchen that opens up to a hardwood deck, is the hub of the open floor plan living area with raked ceilings that flows on to an additional deck with a raised lap pool.

      Approached by the client to develop the design of this modern mexican inspired adobe, located in an exclusive residential estate. The home resides within an open grassed bushland setting with spacious hall ways, six bedrooms, five bathrooms, family room, living room, theatre room, formal dining and a grand kitchen featuring finished jarrah hardwood and stainless steel.

      With a separate rumpus room that flows on to a courtyard / pool area that leads to a detached pool cabana room / gymnasium. The total floor area is 752 square metres with double brick and over 3 metre high ceilings. The grand scale of this home is furnished with clever details such as the sunken family room with built in seating.

      Mosaic tiled bathrooms and subtle curved walls add to the Mexican theme whilst adding an element of modern luxury and sophistication. This Home was featured in Home Beautiful Australia.

      The clients focus was a home that grew with their needs and was sustainable. This contemporary design took advantage of the northerly orientation maximising solar access and natural cross ventilation facilitated by numerous by-fold door openings in tandem with highlight operable glazing.

      On the upper level the open plan living brings a simultaneous feeling of an indoor and outdoor space that embraces the natural environment. From this level you access the main deck and raised plunge pool.

      Excavation for the foundations is minimised by a proposed post and beam system that sets the floor plates of the home up amongst the open woodland setting. All levels of the home take advantage of the distant bushland and ocean vista beyond. A meandering landscaped path set amongst the natural undergrowth leads you from the main house down to the detached studio and double garage at street frontage.

      Capturing the water view corridor was foremost on the mind of the owner’s of this property. As you enter the home and proceed to the open hardwood stairs your focus is drawn to the east facing double storey glazing that frames the dramatic 19 metre lap pool.

      Situated at the upper level of this split level design is the open plan kitchen, dining, living area which extends out to a deck. The design takes full advantage of the ocean blue bay of Brisbane Waters

      Contracted by a local architect to rationalise the design and develop construction drawings. The alterations and additions to the existing dwelling were extensive including removal of existing roof and inclusion of an additional floor level. Internal floor plans were gutted and reconfigured.

      A site visit / measure up to record the existing dwelling structure including site analysis, photographic recording to assess existing building and site parameters was carried out. From there the design was rationalised and construction methodology / drawings developed for issue of construction certificate and subsequent pricing and construction.

      This proposed 9 unit development constructed from concrete, masonry with textured finish and multiple compressed fibre cement external cladding boards provides an articulated facade and architectural interest.

      The multiple skillion metal roofs reduce the scale of the developemnt that includes secured double garage parking with internal access to each unit. All units are 2 storey with open plan living areas extending out to individual private terrace areas with distant views.

      Contracted by a local architect to rationalise and develop the proposed design and construction methodology. This included providing preliminary construction level developed floor plans, elevations and sections for approval, liaising and co-ordinating of documentation with consultants.

      Final construction level documents where prepared to obtain a construction certificate that included appropriate scaled set of architectural drawings adequately describing the scope of works for tendering and construction purposes.

The built form comprises a selection of face brick and pre-finished metal cladding, providing architectural interest through use of multiple facade elements.

      Planning a housing development for seniors (over 55’s or people with a disability), the scope of service provided to the principle architect was the design of 1 bedroom units in compliance with relevant building codes including Seniors Living Policy and Adaptable housing standards.

      Through the use of face brick and various pre-finished cladding materials the development’s design creates an articulated building form providing architectural merit.
